And how to get on board if it is

You'll likely have heard of IT managed services, and will probably appreciate that it sounds pretty good – but do the costs really stack up? Under a true managed services offering, you pay a fixed price per user every month. This is only one half of the IT managed service coin. Updating and replacing old hardware, refreshing aged and neglected IT systems and essentially getting your IT house in order come part and parcel.

Workplaces are embracing the flexibility of modern day working environments more so than ever before. Improvements in internet availability and hosted cloud solutions have enabled businesses to operate in ways that were almost unheard of ten years ago. As flexible working environments become more prominent, we take a moment to reflect and look at the bigger picture.

Is your organisation utilising the rapid advancement of ICT infrastructure and technology to best enable your staff to work with more flexibility?

Solve your IT problems forever

The managed services secret

IT Systems are a critical part of most business operations. This is at a point where a system outage affecting all users can leave your entire company in limbo until your IT support team can get you back up and running. Not taking into account potential lost productivity and revenue that may be caused by this, it's hard to know how much it might cost to get your IT issues resolved and back to normal.

For businesses operating on time and materials (T&M) for IT services, this is a common story. While on the surface it seems fair to pay for only what you need, when you need it, the hidden costs of T&M – both in hard dollars and in lost opportunities – can quickly mount. It’s money, time and goodwill down the toilet every time something breaks (again), is slow and sluggish (still) or doesn’t (ever) work the way it’s supposed to.

Case Study: Wellworks Pharmacy

Keiran manages another smooth sailing project from start to finish.
Our customer Ben Latty knew that coming to Think Concepts for assistance was the right first step in his plans to open his new pharmacy; Wellworks Pharmacy in Wellington late last year.

After listening to Ben’s requirements Keiran began brainstorming some recommendations for the new pharmacy and drew up a proposal tailored to what is best for Wellworks Pharmacy and put it forward to Ben for approval.

This included a range of computers for different uses; point of sale, consult room laptops, a server to access pharmacy software and small space-saving computers for all other areas. Different printers were also recommended for the different uses around the pharmacy such as being able to print on both A4 and A5 sized paper and foils, dispensary label and receipt printers too.

Specific measurements and size requirements were taken into account when adding a recommendation for the drug safe and medical fridge along with additional shelving.

A range of different phones was recommended based on the uses of the phones in their different locations around the pharmacy e.g cordless phone with a base for the shop and corded desk phones.

Wellworks also needed Audio for the shop and Keiran put forward an economical solution where all computers onsite can control the music and volume as required. The speakers where put in a places where the audio level is even around the retail shop for a present experience.

As you can see from the progression photos below, all the equipment was just right for Wellworks Pharmacy as everything was procured with the space it would live in mind.

Ben had the following to say to thank us and Keiran for his work:

I wanted to quickly thank you guys for the incredible help we have had from Think Concepts setting up our shop and in particular Keiran. He has seamlessly nailed the set up of our tech with no hiccups - we have had a smooth ride into opening with zero headaches. I was also impressed with his project management skills and communication.

Look forward to working with him on future projects.

Kind regards, Ben Latty

Not only did Keiran recommend, procure and install all the hardware and software, he also worked closely with a variety of other vendors so that his work would complement other systems such as EFTPOS and SecureMe. He took the managing of the technical aspects of the project out of the business owners hands, leading to a great result, and therefore a happy customer.
